Ingredients

Scale

For the Pan

  • 2 teaspoons unsalted butter (for greasing)

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt

Crumble Mixture

  • 1½ cups finely chopped toasted walnuts

  • ⅓ cup packed light brown sugar

  • ⅓ cup white sugar

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature

  • 2 large eggs, divided

  • 1 cup plain yogurt

  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2 Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and diced small

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your baking pan evenly with butter.

  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl: flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well combined.

  3. Make the crumble topping by mixing walnuts, sugars, melted butter, cinnamon, and salt until crumbly. Set aside.

  4. Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl for 2–3 minutes until light and fluffy

  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in yogurt and vanilla until smooth.

  6. Fold in dry ingredients gently, mixing just until no dry streaks remain.

  7. Stir in diced apples evenly throughout the batter

  8. Spread batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle crumble mixture generously on top.

  9. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  10. Cool for 15 minutes before slicing. The top should be golden and fragrant
